Today our spotlight is on stylist Holly Emling, who hails from St. Louis and is an expert colorist at Sine Qua Non. She started 14 years ago when Sine just had one location in Lincoln Park, as one of 8 stylists. Read all about our favorite Blonde Whisperer!

SQN: Who is your current style icon, inspiration or time period that is influencing your personal style?
Holly: Isabel Marant, as she is the epitome of Parisian style, which is my biggest fashion & hair influence.

SQN: What is your favorite haircolor trend that your clients have been requesting this season?
Holly: Winter is almost over, so I love that it’s the time of year when everyone is lightening their hair back up. Blondes are my favorite to work with and everyone is going blonder!

SQN: What is one haircolor trend you are glad is gone?
Holly: I am happy to see the dramatic ombre go, being replaced by the more natural, wearable version.

SQN: What products do you recommend?
Holly: I’m in love with R+Co’s Aircraft for adding texture to the hair. Hairdresser’s Oil for anyone who is experiencing the harsh winter effects (or has dry, coarse hair), and Death Valley Dry Shampoo for anyone and everyone.

SQN: What is your favorite part about your job as a stylist at Sine Qua Non?
Holly: Building long-lasting relationships with my clients, and making people feel great about themselves– along with being creative.

SQN: What is your idea of a perfect day?
Holly: Watching live tennis in a foreign land.

SQN:What are you currently listening to?
Holly: Father John Misty. I’m waiting patiently for his new record to come out!

SQN: Where is your favorite place to shop local?
Holly: Barney’s!

SQN: Tell us one restaurant you would just NEED to take a friend from out of town to.
Holly: I love Maude’s Liquor Bar. The atmosphere, the food, and drinks are always delicious.

Policies

COVID SAFETY is our number one priority.
As the Delta variant becomes the dominant strain in Chicago, we encourage the wearing of masks. However, our current policy is, if you have proof of vaccination you can have a maskless service if you prefer. We will continue to update our policy as things develop.

CANCELLATION AND PAYMENT POLICY
At Sine Qua Non, we know things happen. In order to ensure that we can accommodate all of our guests needs, we require that you give us at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

We are unable to hold any appointment without a valid credit card on file. If you cancel without 24 hours notice or no show for your appointment, a charge equal to 50% of your service and will be charged to your card.

ADJUSTMENT TO SERVICES POLICY
Our goal is complete happiness with your fresh cut and color. If you need an adjustment service, they are free within 2 weeks from your original appointment, preferably with your original stylist. If a refund is requested, our policy is: Call and schedule an assessment with management within 2 weeks of your service. You must come into the salon, so we can see the problem in person. If you received an adjustment at a different salon or cannot stop by so we can see your hair, we will not refund your services.

PRODUCT RETURN POLICY
It is important to us that you are totally happy with your purchase. Product returns must happen within 30 days of purchase, be accompanied by a store receipt (and we can view in your client file) and the product must be nearly full. If you paid by credit card, you may receive a credit on your card. We are a completely cashless business.

LATE POLICY
We are committed to giving you the best one-on-one service available. If you are more than 15 minutes late, and we are unable to give you the attention you deserve, we ask that you reschedule your appointment for another day or with an available stylist.
