Season’s greetings from Sine Qua Non Salons! To no one’s surprise, December is flying by, and the moment for holiday hair has arrived in full force. Now is the perfect time to liven up your look and celebrate! With this in mind, here are our favorite festive styles, quaffs, and holiday haircuts recently done at Sine Qua Non.

Cold weather is the perfect excuse to revive your haircut, and SQN Andersonville stylist Jac did just that with her client Jennifer. Jennifer has been growing out her pixie cut for some time now, and this holiday season has marked her finally reaching the point of a classic graduated bob! Jac cleaned up her cut and used R and Co‘s Park Avenue balm for the perfect blowout. Jac used a salon favorite Denman brush for this blow dry, and finished with R and Co‘s Motorcycle Flexible Gel to add that lovely definition.

In the spirit of the season (and of gorgeous hair), stylist Jessi at Sine Qua Non in West Town, gave her client Kendra a complete hair transformation! Kendra is one of those lucky ladies who’s got lovely, fine hair– but lots of it! To work with this, Jessi went for a razor cut, which is great for removing bulk and length at the same time. Kendra wanted a very “wash and wear” finish for this dramatic change: low maintenance styles in this dry winter air are key! Jessi took advantage of Kendra’s slight natural wave to accomplish this. She tossed Kendra’s tresses dry with R and Co‘s Mannequin Styling Paste, which is perfect for that matte, artfully disheveled look.  Jessi then perfected this texture with a waving iron and finished with R and Co‘s Badlands Dry Shampoo Paste. Good tidings and good hair!

Over in our Lincoln Park location, stylist Mischa gave her client Caitlin a vivid holiday hair transformation with a cut and wild orchid balayage! This “lived-in” look is accentuated by the eye popping, rich purple color, and melts beautifully with her soft, wispy ends. Combining these hues with the angled bob and just the right amount of messy layers makes that vivid color both edgy and wearable. Caitlin is now ready to ring in the new year in style.

Stephanie, client of Jessi and Dahlia, used this season’s festivities as inspiration for a dramatic fashion change. Stephanie saw Jessi for those lovely highlights, and then stylist Dahlia took off a full five inches of length for this blonde beauty! She then went on to give Stephanie a longer bob chock-full of texture and piecey-ness. Dahlia used a razor to take out much of the weight at the bottom of Stephanie’s cut, creating a look that’s nice and airy. Stephanie’s cut has minimal layering – just enough to add a bit of movement and remove heaviness (just what we need with all these winter layers!) In terms of products, Dahlia used R and Co‘s Chiffon Styling Mousse while Stephanie’s tresses were still damp, and blow dried to make it look lived-in. Finishing with R and Co’s ever popular Badlands Dry Shampoo Paste, Dahlia gave Stephanie the gift of killer hair this season.

Amanda had aspirations of incorporating some of the shaved and extra short panels that are so very popular this holiday season, but wanted to make it her own. Carrie was thrilled to oblige! On the left side of Amanda’s head, Carrie built up weight and faded Amanda’s shape into her longer, silky length in the back. On the right side, Carrie took everything punk-rock short, and left the top section disconnected to cover that secret, badass shaved section. To style, Carrie utilized R and Co‘s Aircraft Pomade Mousse, which is fantastic for that deliberately mussed look. Amanda’s new cut is full of versatility: she can use the Aircraft technique to straighten the longer pieces, or wear this holiday hair with her natural curly texture. To top it all off, Carrie deepened Amanda’s color to a gorgeous plum, making this ‘do completely stunning. Amanda’s individuality and spunk are shining through in this holiday hair!

Policies

COVID SAFETY is our number one priority.
As the Delta variant becomes the dominant strain in Chicago, we encourage the wearing of masks. However, our current policy is, if you have proof of vaccination you can have a maskless service if you prefer. We will continue to update our policy as things develop.

CANCELLATION AND PAYMENT POLICY
At Sine Qua Non, we know things happen. In order to ensure that we can accommodate all of our guests needs, we require that you give us at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

We are unable to hold any appointment without a valid credit card on file. If you cancel without 24 hours notice or no show for your appointment, a charge equal to 50% of your service and will be charged to your card.

ADJUSTMENT TO SERVICES POLICY
Our goal is complete happiness with your fresh cut and color. If you need an adjustment service, they are free within 2 weeks from your original appointment, preferably with your original stylist. If a refund is requested, our policy is: Call and schedule an assessment with management within 2 weeks of your service. You must come into the salon, so we can see the problem in person. If you received an adjustment at a different salon or cannot stop by so we can see your hair, we will not refund your services.

PRODUCT RETURN POLICY
It is important to us that you are totally happy with your purchase. Product returns must happen within 30 days of purchase, be accompanied by a store receipt (and we can view in your client file) and the product must be nearly full. If you paid by credit card, you may receive a credit on your card. We are a completely cashless business.

LATE POLICY
We are committed to giving you the best one-on-one service available. If you are more than 15 minutes late, and we are unable to give you the attention you deserve, we ask that you reschedule your appointment for another day or with an available stylist.
