five favorites – spring style!
With April past us and warmer weather finally surfacing, it’s time for fresh spring looks, sun-kissed tresses, and a brand-spanking-new edition of our Five Favorite hairstyles at Sine Qua Non Salons!
Spring is the season of formal affairs, and Andersonville stylist Jac helped kick off the splendor with her client Melissa and a beautiful bridal updo! For her appointment, Melissa brought with her floral inspiration from her wedding arrangements, and Jac ended up using the blossoms in Melissa’s ‘do! To style this romantic look, Jac did an abundant amount of twisting and twining to sweep everything back and off Melissa’s neck. Additionally, she gave the blushing bride a trim around her face-framing layers, adding a piecey, windswept look. She employed R & Co‘s Outer Space Flexible Hairspray to add just the right amount of hold with flexibility. These side pieces then had the freedom to move but could still maintain the memory and elegance built into this updo. Jac related that Melissa’s hair was the perfect length for this kind of updo – it was long enough to allow for Jac’s creativity with the fairy-tale twists, but not so long that it got bulky or cumbersome to affix. Additionally, SQN‘s own new stylist and makeup artist Dahlia contributed to this dazzling wedding look! Dahlia did Melissa’s makeup for the big day, and the end result was ravishing.
She used a mixture of corals and very bronzed colors for inspiration, and applied an orangeish coral in her eye crease for definition. Dahlia kept Melissa’s lids very natural and skin toned to add brightness, and rather than applying an overly defined cat eye, created a soft and smokey liner look to give her a sultry finish. Said Melissa, “Thanks so much! You helped make my day so special and everyone loved my ‘do!”
Warmer weather at Sine Qua Non has also marked the conclusion of our Selfie Contest! This week’s Five Favorites would surely be remiss without the inclusion of Josh, our Selfie Contest runner up. Josh is a client of Sarah‘s at Lakeview and an unequivocal staff favorite. Said Sarah, “Josh is a very gentle man, with a nice, finger-length gentleman’s cut!” He has been coming to Sine Qua Non to see Sarah for six years, and has developed the habit of expressing his gratitude for Sarah’s craftsmanship in the form of limited edition Oreos. Josh’s dapper ‘do was perfected this time around by Bumble and bumble‘s Grooming Creme, which acts as both a finishing texturizer and a styling moisturizer. The piecey, satin finish is even further accentuated by Sarah’s use of R & Co’s Conformist Paste, which is great for pliability all day long.
Michelle used a crimper to enhance some of her models’ curly texture, and completely embraced finishing products in her quest for dilettante chic! Memorable choices included Bumble and bumble’s Cityswept Finish spray wax for shine and grip on braided tresses, Bumble and bumble’s colored Hair Powder for added lived-in texture and hold, and a combination of R & Co’s Outer Space Hairspray with with R & Co’s Vicious for the ultimate holding power. Michelle pulled out all the stops with her braiding work, and promulgated styles including Dutch braids, waterfall braids, and even a fishtail braid set! As the finishing touch for her bohemian spring beauties, Michelle added baby’s breath and tiny daisies to the dreamy updos. We couldn’t be more excited for her rose-colored welcome to the stylist floor!
