Today we’re chatting with hometown girl Lauren, one of our talented Junior Stylists. Read on and find out what Lauren thinks about music festivals, hair trends, and Instagram!

SQN: What is your favorite Chicago neighborhood and why?

Lauren: Logan Square. I like the new businesses that are there, the night life, and diversity.

SQN: What is your favorite summer festival?

Lauren: I love Pitchfork because it is super laid-back.

SQN: What’s your hometown?

Lauren: Chicago.

SQN: Who is your current style icon, inspiration or time period that is influencing your personal style?

Lauren: @dyspnea_ is giving me life right now. Also Rihanna is on top of her game!

A throwback to Lauren’s pre-SQN years!

SQN: Why do you love doing hair and/or what made you want to start doing hair?

Lauren: I love doing hair because it is a chance to be creative and work with people. I am obsessed with fashion and I love the freedom to wear what I want and fill people in on the latest fashion.

SQN: What is your favorite hair trend that your clients have been requesting this season?

Lauren: “Rich girl hair”, more effortless and cleaner-looking than beachy hair.

SQN: What is one hair trend you are glad is gone?

Lauren: Big bouncy blowouts. I am happy people want more “lived in” and organic looks.

SQN: What is your idea of a perfect day?

Lauren: Going for a long walk on the lakefront and trying out new restaurants.

SQN: What are you currently listening to?

Lauren: Big Sean and Tyga!

SQN: Where is your favorite place to shop locally?

Lauren: U.S. Apothecary on Southport. They have super cute housewares and vintage items.

SQN: Three words that best describe you?

Lauren: Creative, friendly and happy!

SQN: What was your best/worst/most embarrassing/weirdest hairstyle?

Lauren: When my hair was (not cute) platinum with 2” layers on one side of my head… unintentionally.
