music we love – thee oh sees
We caught Thee Oh Sees last Wednesday at the Empty Bottle and our hearing just returned to normal. The San Francisco-based psychedelic rock trio delivered a characteristically high-energy show that left the stage littered with cigarette ash, spit, and at least one audience member’s shirt(!) Thee Oh Sees’ prolific discography includes seven studio albums and just as many EPs, recorded over six years. Though the band’s lineup has changed over that time, the essential element is frontman John Dwyer, a quintessential rock star if we ever saw one. His fuzzy guitar playing and echoey vocals are what make Thee Oh Sees a staple of any good party playlist. Check out “Coconut” from The Master’s Bedroom is Worth Spending a Night In LP, and don’t miss “Toe Cutter – Thumb Buster” if you like what you hear.
