music we love – mamby on the beach
Chicago is the proud home of many originals. The Chicago Dog, one of a kind architecture and house music. Yes, Chicago is the birth place of your summer soundtrack.
This weekend we celebrated house music in the motherland at Mamby on the Beach, Chicago’s newest house music festival. The festival took place at the brand new Oakwood Beach, giving festival goers a different view of the always beautiful Chicago Skyline. Members of the Sine Qua Non team were invited to create a VIP braid bar for the inaugural Mamby. No festival big or small is complete without some rockin’ braids!
Mamby brought together artists and audience in a way like no other. The smaller space of Oakwood Beach fostered an atmosphere that was raged while keeping an intimate feel. Mamby’s main appeal are the many groups Chicagoans have been dying to see live since we first heard them: Phantogram, Passion Pit and Cashmere Cat. Passion Pit is no stranger to Chicago, playing here multiple times last year. But they are a welcome addition to any Festival! Cashmere Cat, a collaborator of pop star Ariana Grande, is a mysterious but killer performer. His music has a somewhat icy feel over the beats, providing a much needed cool down for the Beachgoers.
For a first time festival, Mamby was a fantastic time! Between the amazing line up, the beach, the skyline and the crowd, Mamby is sure to be a new Chicago favorite.
