Tell us an unforgettable moment about working at Sine Qua Non Salons
I remember driving into the city to work at my new job. At the time I was struggling with a suburban existence, living with my parents, and yearning to connect with like minded people. Those first few weeks at Sine Qua Non changed my outlook, my future. That was 20 years ago.
Who are you hair heroes in the business?
The heroes, or the people that inspire me are the ones I work with. Many of them are insanely talented and have the kind of enthusiasm that’s contagious. It pulls people outside of their comfort zone and challenges me to be better.
What is your favorite kind of cut to give and why?
I like cutting short hair. Creating different shapes and offering low maintenance hair styles is very satisfying.
What else do you love to do outside the salon?
I’m a musician and play with several bands. I’m a runner and in the last year have acquired an affinity for rock climbing.
Any words of wisdom to upcoming hair artists in the industry?
Find a salon that inspires and a salon owner who who’s interested in taking care of their staff and supports you, the stylist, with your goals.
