stylist spotlight – haylee
Today we’re talking to Andersonville stylist Haylee about what makes her so passionate about hair!
Why did you want to work at Sine?
I really resonated with why Laura opened her own salon. I remember reading up on the salon, and reading that she opened Sine because she wasn’t happy with how the salons she worked for were run and managed, so she opened her own. I wasn’t happy with were I was working, and I wanted to work for a salon that was owned and run by a hairdresser, and who understands what it’s like being on the other end.
What is your favorite cut or color to do?
Since I’ve started my career, color has always been my true love. Lately, I love doing highlights and balayage. I am someone who likes repetition, so foil work is actually really fun and sort of relaxing for me. I always joke with my guests that my hair can’t handle going blonde, so I love getting to live vicariously through their hair. I really enjoy hair painting my balayage applications, I’ve never been great at drawing or painting, but always wanted to be. When I paint a beautiful balayage, it gives me the satisfaction that I felt like I couldn’t get before with drawing or painting.
What do you do for creative inspiration?
Listening and seeing live music, occasionally trying to pick up and learn a new instrument. I’m extremely empathetic and can get lost in the emotion of music and the lyrics. I also love being out in nature, or just outside in general exploring Chicago.
