music we love – chicago fests 2014

June 2014
chicago music festivals

If you live in Chicago you know that we live for our summers. After months of being trapped indoors, we look for any excuse to ditch the winter jackets for summer dresses and indoor venues for street fest. And in a city that thrives off of live music, it’s no contest, we have the best music festivals. With our sunscreens, sunhats, and sunglasses- we are ready.

We have rounded out our top six fests to keep our tans going this summer:

Spring Awakening Music Festival

June 13-15 @ Soldier Field

This is the summer kick off. Third year in, we have always had a great time and no doubt we will have ample fun dancing the day and night away. This years heavy hitters : Tiesto, Pretty Lights, Diplo, Kaskade, Steve Aoki and, our favorite, Benny Benassi.

Pitchfork

July 18-20 @ Union Park

Pitchfork Music Festival presents over 40 bands, highlighting the best in new and emerging music. Thriving since 2006, this years highlights are Beck, Neutral Milk Honey, Kendrick Lamar, St Vincent & so many many more.

Check out their full lineup here

Lollapalooza

August 1-3 @ Grant Park

Does Lolla even need a blurb? We all know what happens here. Fun. Fun happens here.

We are excited to see, in no particular order, Eminem, Nas, Outkast, Interpol (first US tour in three years, eek!), Childish Gambino, Airborne Toxic Event, and the rest.

North Coast Music Festival

August 29-31 @ Union Park

How we love North Coast. Their eclectic lineup always has us at the edge of our seats. This year is no different. Where else can you see Snoop Dog and, local favorites, Wild Belle in one weekend? The rest of the lineup is just as enticing. From Kid Cudi to Little Dragon to Bassnectar to Future Islands.. I mean, c’mon!

A.V Fest

September 5-6 @ Hideout

This street fest made the list because its not every day you get to see Death Cab for Cutie & The Dismemberment Plan … and Sylvan Esso (le sigh).

Riot Fest

September 12-14 @ Humboldt Park

We might be a little bias here.. and we are not even going to bother listing any artist. We want to see them all. From doors open to doors close, we will be there.

You, however, might want to see the lineup.

So there it is. Our summer.

What will you be up to?
