five stylist favorites at sine qua non salon
Today we’re honoring our favorite five stylist favorites from the past week at Sine Qua Non Salon. These styles are great examples of the creative, individualized looks we give each guest. Our stylists are artists, and hair is their medium!
Here is the lovely Grace, who’s brunette balayage was perfected by Mischa at our West Town location. Mischa used Wella color to create a blended, “zero-maintenance” look that’s both put-together and effortless. This lived-in color is great for growing hair out, as it is naturally darkest at the root, and fades to a golden, reddish brown at the ends. To achieve the messy, natural finish, Mischa used R&Co‘s Badlands Dry Shampoo Paste, which gives a lived-in feel with incredible volume. Badlands can also be used to refresh and style second-day hair. Grace left with a great balance of texture and hold, with a modern hair color that will last for months.
We do a lot of men’s hair at Sine and we love it! Tom, a client of Sarah‘s in Lakeview, underwent a transformation resulting in an utterly fresh man-bob.
This medium-length cut is perfect for men who seek a trendy and versatile yet professional look. Sarah used a razor to create this soft, wearable cut, and added R&Co’s Mannequin styling paste, which helps give a piece-y, matte finish. Paired with the chin scruff, Tom is positively dapper.
Meanwhile, back in Lincoln Park, stylist Ava created a beautiful, natural look on her client Sarah! This color was achieved by doing a full blonde balyage with highlights, giving Sarah that lovely honey color – perfect for the end of summer.
Ava kept Sarah’s color more natural at the roots, making the upkeep on this hairdo a breeze. To style, Ava incorporated Bumble and bumble‘s invisible Hairdresser’s Oil to protect before blow-drying, which gave Sarah’s hair a feather-soft texture and buffer from heat damage. She then used R&Co’s Chiffon Styling Mousse for volume, fullness, and hold, and finished with R&Co’s Foil Hairspray. Heavenly!
At Sine Qua Non, we get super excited when our newest stylists wow us with their work on the floor. This week the talented Libby proved her skill by giving her model Jennifer a gorgeous haircut in our Monday advanced training lab.
Libby trimmed Jennifer’s perimeter, then delivered side-swept bangs that flowed into a soft face frame. Jennifer’s bangs evolved into piece-y, radial layering. The look is fresh, fun, and very summery. New talent for the win!
Last but not least, we have an intense color transformation done by stylist Jessi at Sine Qua Non West Town. Jessi‘s client, Diana, had previously colored hair, which is no small feat to control when trying to change a look! Diana had naturally brown hair which had been dyed lavender with Pravana several weeks ago. While the ends had faded to a blondish tone, the purple pigment had grabbed at the nape of Diana’s neck, making something of a rainbow for Jessi to work with! Jessi filled Diana’s hair with a pigment about two shades lighter than her natural color, making sure it was a rich, golden tone. This did the trick to cancel out the purple pigment and create a chocolatey brown color. One reapplication and two washes later, Diana’s natural color was restored, with the ends left out to create a trendy ombre effect. Well done, Jessi!
