music we love – shannon and the clams

October 2015

A source of pride for our Sine Qua Non family is our cross salon culture. We are one big family made up of four unique salons. Each of our locations has their own style and taste. Today we celebrate the wonderful world of West Town with the music we love to play!

Our West Town Location

You may have heard this band crooning through our speakers during your last visit and we’re sure you will hear them at your next. This new obsession isn’t going anywhere. Like our styslits, Shannon and The Clams have many varied inspirations for their work and the end results are rocking!  Shannon and The Clams sound like a blend of three beautiful bands; surfer, garage and The Shangri Las.

Shannon and the Clams hail from Oakland, California – the official town of cool.    Shannon Shaw and Cody Blanchard meet in art school. At first, they were  weirded out by each other, but soon they discovered they were both actual weirdos and  have been playing together ever since. They share lead vocals in a true feminist  partnership. Shannon has a searing rock and roll croon that would put Elvis to shame while Cody is reminiscent of Jerry Lee Lewis at his most excited.  Drummer Nate Mahan knew them from the local music scene and the rest is history.

Although they are only a three piece, the sound they create is much bigger than you would expect. The guitar is played with heavy distortion and sounds so warm I want to nap in it. The music transports you to a grungy 60’s prom, where you want to dance all night and sweat out your bouffant.  Shannon and The Clams, just like our West Town location, favors bold colors and easy to wear styles. Shannon rocks a bleach blonde lob and bold red lips. While the men wear their hair short and sweet. All very easy styles to maintain while rocking out on tour.

If you are a rockstar or just want to feel like one, visit us at  West Town and let Shannon and The Clams serenade you while we transform your style!
