spring hair trends
This week’s runways have been full of Fall and Winter fashions, but we can’t stop thinking about Spring! Although New York Fashion Week is in full swing, we prefer to throw back to the Spring 2016 shows for our upcoming hair inspiration. Spring beauty trends are all about stepping outside the box, so join us in getting weird!
Sine Qua Non Salon is all about embracing natural hair texture. We were inspired to see designers following suit– there was an abundance of curls and waves on the spring runways. It seems like “pretty” and “perfect” are out, and undone hair is in. Carolina Herrera’s models sported soft waves and center partings– a look which managed to look fresh and current, especially with those covetable sunglasses. Sonia Rykiel’s beauty team styled the models in wilder, voluminous corkscrew curls to compliment the eclectic French designer’s collection. Our favorite version of spring’s curl trend was during Diane von Furstenberg’s show. Models rocked a deep side part with satiny 1970’s curls, pinned back with resort-worthy flower barrettes. We will definitely be stealing this look when spring comes!
We promised spring hair would have a weird side, which came through via the spring fashion week’s hair accessories. The fashion gods have spoken: when it comes to barrettes, clips and headbands, the more the better. Models walked down the runway with some of the edgier hairstyles we have seen in recent years: asymmetrical braids with giant earrings and mismatched barrettes? Why not, it’s fashion week! We’re committed to making this avant-garde styling work for us as the weather gets warmer. Get this look at home by experimenting with layering, mixing and matching your hair accessories. And then adding two more.
As warmer weather approaches, we’re craving a modern take on the up-do. We’ve seen ponytails and ballerina buns– what is new and fresh? The “undone up-do” was all over the runways, and ranged from simple (hello third grade loopy bun!) to complex. This new version of the up-do is a great way to avoid heat styling while keeping cool. We are welcoming this departure from perfect hair, whether through embracing the hair’s natural texture, getting crazy with accessories, or wearing an up-do of our own invention.
